Two notes, I’m not sure if twin mattress es are different here in Canada, but there is about a 2 inch gap between the mattress and the end rail for me. ( unfortunately I bought the mattress after I was already done so I couldn’t double check measurements, completely my fault) So if I were to build it again I would shorten it by about 2”

Second, I added 9” to the height of the four posts, and it made for a better height to the top rail for my little one (4yrs). I feel if I had used the 26” height, she would have bonked her head pretty quickly.

Other than those two minor tweaks, I love this design!

Hi Johanna,

You can use 2×2 cleats with slats across them if you prefer this over plywood. And yes, you can certainly customize it to make the legs longer:)

I already have both, and wanted to reduce weight on the bed for moving it later. I am thinking too, that with the box spring AND mattress, I might have to make the legs a bit longer so the whole thing doesn’t look swished – thoughts?

I’m sure you can. I would probably use brackets on the angled portions of the build, but everywhere else you can certainly use pilot holes and wood screws.

Can this be done without the use of the Kreg Jig? And pilot hole & screw the pieces together?

Thanks in advance.
