Hi everyone. I’m really excited to share this DIY Monogram Wreath with you today. This is the first time I’ve ever made a wreath. As much as I love to DIY everything, I usually purchase fresh wreaths every year. Mostly because I love the fresh pine smell when I go in and out the front door. The downside was that I was dropping $30+ a year on wreaths. While that may not seem like a lot, it does add up over time.
I had an idea of what I wanted to make, so I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and just started grabbing some things.
I bought an 18″ wreath, 5 Christmas picks, 4 yards of jute webbing, a wood slice, some white vinyl, and floral wire.
I had some chalkboard paint, so I penciled in an outline of where I wanted to paint and filled it in. I also drilled a hole in the top of the slab so I could tie it onto the wreath.
While the paint dried, I took the jute webbing and pulled bits of it through the back of the wreath.
Here’s how it looked after all of the webbing was done. Trim off the excess to use for your bow.
For my bow, I wanted two loops on each side. Here’s how the folds looked.
I created some nice little pleats in the webbing and then squeezed the center together and secured it with floral wire.
I trimmed the excess tail off of the bow and used it to loop over the center. I secured that with floral wire and left a tail on it to attach it to the wreath.
I attached the bow and then sat back to look it over. I fluffed areas that needed to be fluffed and did some tweaking with the webbing to get it just how I wanted it.
I cut the monogram initial out of white vinyl and stuck it on the wood slab. I painted on some outdoor Mod Podge to seal it and let it dry. After it dried, I used jute twine to tie it onto the frame of the wreath.
I stuck the picks into the wreath and secured them to the wreath frame with floral wire. When doing this, I also wrapped the wire around the jute webbing on the back to keep that in place as well.
I am so thrilled with how it turned out. I was really nervous about making my own wreath because I’d never made one before, and because sometimes my ideas don’t always pan out. This definitely did and I’m happy to have a wreath that I love that I can keep putting out year after year. It even got my husband’s seal of approval:)

What a fantastic idea. I’m going to try this next year. I use upholstery webbing too, but stencil it with the words “Merry Christmas.” Then tie it across the center. I like yours too. Especially the initial. May I share this on my FB page? ~Delores
