Hi there, everyone! Today I’m sharing my latest project for fall. This project was super easy and I love how it turned out. These fun gilded gourds gave me a chance to finally try out this amazing stuff called Rub’n Buff. I’ve seen other bloggers use it in gorgeous projects, but I’d never found a reason to try it. Then the lovely Ursula from Home Made by Carmona included a tube of this awesome stuff in the sweet roommate gift she gave me at the Haven Conference last month. I decided I needed to try it!
I bought my faux gourds at Hobby Lobby. While they looked fine as is, I wanted to give them a custom look. I painted each of them with Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Lace.
I used Rub’n Buff in Grecian Gold. If you’ve never used this before, it’s pretty neat! You can add a metallic finish to anything you can think of using your finger, a q-tip, a rag, etc. A little goes a long way too.
To apply the Rub’n Buff, I squeezed a tiny amount onto a scrap piece of drop cloth. I used light and quick strokes to give the gourds a bit of a distressed metallic look. Some areas got a little more than others, but the beauty of this type of project is that there’s no right or wrong way to do it! You can customize them any way you like.
I followed the same process for my other two gourds and fiddled with them until I was happy with the results.
I love how these turned out. Sometimes I have epic crafting fails and sometimes things work out beautifully! For now, these gorgeous gourds are gracing my entry console table, but as I decorate my house more, I may end up moving them. I looking forward to finishing up all of my other projects and sharing my fall home tour with you all next month!
I can’t wait for fall to arrive so we can enjoy some cooler weather, cozy sweatshirts, fun fall activities, and of course football! What are you most looking forward to?

Wow, beautiful. I love fall decorations. Never have been fond of Halloween decorations but I love end of summer/autumn stuff. These are beautiful. I live in Sonoma County California and i wish we had a Hobby Lobby but I somehow think it wouldn’t survive here in liberal land.

Okay, first of all that is too funny! But also sad that you don’t have a Hobby Lobby. We’ve only had them here in AZ for a few years.
